Have you recently made an inventory of your wardrobe? What colours are represented the most? Do you end up buying clothes with the same colours over and over again?
The colors of the rainbow are a familar sight to everyone, raising spirits and exciting feelings of well-being. In ayurvedic treatments the colours of the rainbow are related to the tridosha. The vibrations of the seven colours may be used to help establish the balance ot the three doshas.
RED
has a heating property
stimulates circulation
overexposure may cause overabundance of Pitta resulting in inflammation.
relieves aggravated vata/ kapha
ORANGE
has a warming and healing energy
helps the spiritual seeker to renounce the world
gives energy and strength to the sex organs
relieves congestion and maintain luster of the skin
relieves aggravated vata/kapha
YELLOW
stimulates understanding and intelligence
overuse of this colour cause excess accumulation of bile in the small intestine (pitta)
relieves excess vata/kapha
GREEN
has a calming effect upon the mind and creates freshness
soothes the emotions and brings happiness to the heart
overuse of green stimulates the concentration of bile which may create stones in the gallbladder
calms vata/kapha
BLUE
has a calming and cooling effect on the body and the mind
relieves dispegmentation of the skin
corrects liver disorder
overuse of this colour may cause congestion (kapha)
relieves aggravated Pitta
PURPLE
brings an awakening of awareness
creates lightness in the body
opens the door of perception
relieves aggravated Pitta and Kapha
