Relaxing with books

Enlightment, peace and joy
will not be granted by someone else.
The well is within us.

-Thich Nhat Hanh

Today it has been a rainy and windy day here in Osaka. I have enjoyed the day by relaxing indoors with some new interesting yoga books.

On thursday I got a PILATES & YOGA book from my 4-year old daughter´s teacher. The kindergarten teacher knows my passion for yoga and considered me being better off with the book she can´t find time for as a working mother with three young children.

The book is amazing.

A nice introduction to pilates and yoga, filled with lots of beautiful pictures and loaded with detailed information about the poses.

The authors also thoroughly give an anatomical wiev of how the body benefits from Pilates & Yoga.

The book ends with recommendations on different sequences such as:
energizing, restorative, standing, grounding, strengthening...

This book I will have lot of use for.

While I was studying the Pilates & Yoga book the postman rang on my door bell. He brought a book that I ordered from Amazon;
Healing depression the mind-body way

-creating happiness with meditation, yoga and ayurveda

A book about ayurveda and its power to eradicate the root of depression.

Ayurveda is ancient but still ultramodern, the gems of wisdom it offers are timeless. The authors guide you through the different faces of depression. With the doshas VATA, PITTA and KAPHA we can suffer from:

an airy depression- the wind that blows sleep away
a burning depression -alert but not ready for the day
an earthy depression -when sleep is too much of a good thing

I look forward to get a better ayurvedic understanding of this illness that depletes the energy of millions of people all over the world. To be continued...
