Pacify doshas

Breathe.
Let go.
And remind yourself
that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.

- Oprah Winfrey

For the last three months I have hade the privilege to teach Yoga and Ayurveda every Saturday morning. These two sciences are like making a puzzle. One needs the other to get the whole picture. Something a yogi discovers sooner or later as (s)he walks along the Yoga Path.

A brother needs his sister or a plant needs its soil. Yoga rests upon Ayurvedic medicine for its health implications. Ayurveda rests upon Yoga for its mental and spiritual dimension. Developed into a personal lifestyle these practices lead to a harmonious personality.

A group of regular yoginis and yogis have showed up to balance their doshas during these autumn Saturday classes. We have been practicing pacifying poses to calm down Vata, cool down Pitta and lighten Kapha.

Balancing the three life energies you get:
-relaxed and feel peace (vata),

-enthusiasm and love of life (pitta)

-love and understanding of others (kapha)

The most important in our daily life is to stay grounded like a tree. Walk on the earth with stable feet. Then we are ready to meet any kind of challenge.

Thank you all of you who came and joined my classes! It has been a blissful three months!

May all of the wicked return to good,
May all who are good obtain true peace.
May all who are peaceful be freed from bonds,
May all who are free set others free.
Universal Prayer

  3. I'm curious, did you get the knowledge of how to combine ayurveda and yoga in your yoga teacher training? or is this something you put together your self with what you learned from different places/reading/courses? It's very interesting.

  4. Maria:
Ayurveda was one of many courses during my TTC. One of the homeworks we got was to put togheter a sequence that pacify our dosha. With the knowledge from the Ayurveda sessions and benefits from the poses it all started.

I discovered a fantastic world as I started to notice the benefits my Vata sequence gave me. From that moment it has been love at first sight. I was sold.

After TTC I joined an Ayurveda and Yoga weekend with Jodie Boone and recently another hilarious weekend with Sophie Costs. Except from that I read, read, read about everything written about the two sister sciences.

  5. Ah, I figured it was a mix of things. I am also interested in putting them together. I'm sure there are some courses available here as well. At least in London.
