Yoga according to the Jehovah´s

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains,
but to live in a way that respects
and
enhances the freedom of others.

- Nelson Mandela

A couple of weeks ago I hade the Jehovah´s nocking on my door. They wanted to know how I stay happy. My answer was: I practice yoga.

The two people standing on my door step didn´t know anything about yoga. Until today. They came back. They had done their research. And this time we sat down for a deeper discussion.

In aug 2002 the Watchtower had published the following issue: Yoga- Just an exercise or something more?

According to the Jehovas yoga is NOT a choice for the Christians, because yoga does not stop with physical exercise. The Christians would not allow anything to mar their relationship with Jehovah.

Here are some of the facts of yoga from the article they handed me:

-yoga has been an early system of magical ritualism, and yoga still retains in its meaning an overtone of occultism and sorcery.

-do not involve exposure to the dangers of spiritism and occultism

-yoga can give supernatural powers, even though they usually claim that it is not the ultimate goal of yoga.

-the things are detestable to God because they are works of the demons and of the fallen flesh

-it is the intentional stopping of the spontaneous activity of the mind stuff

-yoga will lead the practioners to attain liberation through a merging with an all-pervading spirit

-keeping clear of practices and beliefs that are rooted in false religion

I know what I believe in and respect other peoples visions. As long as you have peace in your heart and stay open minded.

It makes no difference whether
you worship God, Jehovah, Allah, Mohammed, Buddha, Christ or Khrisna

-it is still and always one and the same God.
