Consciousness

The real voyage of discovery
lies not in seeking new landscapes
but in having new eyes
.
-Marcel Proust

What is consciousness?

Consciousness is the essence of the mind-body. Consciousness is awareness. It is what lies beneath thought and feeling. Imagine the human being like a christmas tree. The body symbolizes the star, the consciousness the trunk and the mind is the part in between these two, the branches.

We extend our mind-body into the universe through our five senses, the direct link to the brain through the nervous system. Our brain is the portal to our mind.

Let me with the two pictures below show you what might happen when our awareness is elsewhere.

Here in Japan people mostly park there car by reversing into the parking spot. Something the owner of this Honda Insight choosed not to do. Instead he remembered to reverse out of his spot...

which the driver of another Honda car didn´t remember to do at the same spot. Luckily neihter the driver or her kids got hurt. If I could speak japanese I would have recommended the driver to join my yoga classes.

By bringing awareness to WHAT we ingest through our senses and HOW we metabolize what we ingest, we stay focused. This is something you become a master of by regularly practicing yoga.
